Our Work

The Rise Project is a place for students who don’t fit the mold — students with big potential, real challenges, and a need for something different.

Whether they’re facing academic hurdles, personal setbacks, or just feeling lost in the crowd, we offer a new path forward. We provide customized instruction, emotional support, and connection to community — not just to catch students up, but to launch them forward with confidence and purpose.

Our work is rooted in dignity, flexibility, and the belief that every student deserves a chance to rise — not someday, but now.

Through a trauma-informed, community-based approach, we deliver:

  • Personalized core subject instruction aligned with charter school standards

  • Academic recovery and credit support

  • Social-emotional coaching and life skills training

  • Mental health screening and intervention referrals

  • Parenting support through our Parenting Lab

  • Positive engagement through athletic electives and creative outlets

We don’t just educate. We intervene. We support. We uplift. We RISE-On Purpose.

Educational Enrichment

Flexible instruction. Real progress

At The Rise Project, parents are in the driver’s seat. We offer flexible, small-group instruction in core subjects and electives — from Math and ELA to creative and practical life courses. Whether your student needs enrichment, structure, credit recovery, or just a fresh approach to learning, we’re here to support the goals that matter most to you.

There are two Sessions for parents to choose from, one in the morning, and one midday, whichever fits your needs the most. Parents can choose any two courses from our Course Catalog  based on what best fits their needs. Charter Enrichment funds can be used for payment when available, and cash pay options are also available.  As an added benefit, we include the 4:8 Life Lab at no additional cost for our "Core Families."

Social Emotional Support

Because rising takes more than academics.

Every student at The Rise Project receives an individualized assessment using our proprietary measure of the Developmental Assets — giving us a clear picture of where they are emotionally, socially, and relationally. From there, we build a practical plan to help them move forward.

Students are supported in a nurturing environment by our staff of trained Mentors and Adolescent Life Coaches with a proven track record of helping teenagers — and their parents — grow through some of life’s toughest seasons. Whether they’re struggling or just need direction, we’ve seen it all, and we’re ready to help.

Parenting Lab

You don’t have to figure this out alone.

The Parenting Lab is a 10-week, outcomes-focused course designed for real parents facing real challenges. Whether you’re dealing with everyday struggles or extreme behavioral situations, we provide practical tools that lead to tangible, lasting change in your home.

Led by experienced instructors who have walked this road themselves, the Parenting Lab is a no-judgment space where you’ll gain strategies that work — and the confidence to use them. Our team has helped families through some of the most difficult parenting seasons, and we’re ready to walk with you, wherever you are.

Meet Our Founder

Hello! — I’m Paul Krueger, and I’m so glad you’re here.

I’ve spent the last 30+ years walking with young people and families through some of the most beautiful and challenging seasons of life. It’s not just what I do — it’s who I am. I believe deeply in the potential inside every student, and in the strength and courage of the parents who show up for them.

The Rise Project was born out of that belief — and it stands on the foundation of other transformative programs I’ve had the privilege to help lead over the years. From educational innovation to street-level mentorship, every part of this project is informed by real-life work that has brought hope and breakthrough to teenagers and families in crisis.

This isn’t theory. It’s lived experience — and we’ve seen it change lives.

If you’re exploring this program, I want you to know you’re not alone. We’re here, we care, and we’re ready to walk with you through whatever season you’re in.

I truly can’t wait to meet you.
